Uncle Steve is so Silly!!!

He actually thinks this is his chair!!!
Aunt Kathy already told me that the chair really belongs to the dog that they used to have. So since it used to belong to a dog, it just seems right that it should belong to me. However, I am not selfish (much). I let Uncle Steve provide additional cushioning when he sits in it and then I sit in his lap. Without Uncle Steve the chair will not rub my tummy or scratch my ears, so it pays to let him use part of my chair. I also help Aunt Kathy read the paper and her books in the couch in the living room, but it is not as comfy as the Lazy Boy upstairs (The chair, not Uncle Steve!)
It was another quiet day here. It was too windy to go for a walk, even the snow is not arriving until late tonight. Uncle Steve said I did not look to happy when he gave me belly bath after our last walk, so we stayed inside. We did give the stuffed animals a beating, just to save the house. Uncle Steve has more conferences tonight, but Aunt Kathy will be home.
Your trip just sounds better and better with each of your notes. Keep having a good time.

Where Is Everybody?

Why Isn't Anybody Home?
Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve sure keep busy. They leave for work around 6:30, Aunt Kathy comes home for a little while around 4:00, let me out, and then was off to Jazzercise at 4:30. She didn't get back until 6:30, and Uncle Steve did not get home until 7:30. Once they do get home, they don't have much energy left. I was pretty tired myself. Uncle Steve and I sat down to watch a little TV after he got home, and he told me that I fell asleep in his lap. He said he could tell because I was running in my sleep. During the day I spent a lot of time guarding the house, and taking naps. Since there weren't any humans around, I took out my frustrations on my stuffed animals. Aunt Kathy found them scattered all over the living room floor. Uncle Steve said he would be home earlier tomorrow. However, another big snow storm is headed our way, so I not sure how much activity we will be getting in.
Your vacation sounds really cool. You sure picked a good week to be gone. We will be having more snow this week than we have had all year. You may want to extend your vacation.

I Survived Another of Uncle Steve's Walks!!!

But I Do Need Some Extra Rest in a Really Soft Chair!
Uncle Steve got home early tonight and we started out on another one of his forced expeditions, but it turned out just fine. The temperature was about 32, and the wind was very calm, so we had a nice jaunt around Lake Calhoun. I was even pulling ahead of Uncle Steve at the end of the walk. I must be getting in better shape with all this exercise.
Other than that it has been a pretty quiet day. I got a couple chances to bark at the basset hounds and the golden retrievers, but since I was inside I don't think they even noticed. Uncle Steve will not let me chase bunnies in the backyard. He says I have enough to eat inside. I am wondering who has trained who here when it comes to those treats. Uncle Steve does get out treats every time we come inside, just like I trained him. However, we always end up wherever he wants to go. Uncle Steve may be a little smarter than I thought!
You trip sounds better and better each day. Keep having fun.

Lots of Snow!!!

Boy, did it snow last night. We got around a foot of snow. Uncle Steve tried to keep up by shoveling a couple of times yesterday, but it did not do any good. Most of the snow fell over night. Then the snow plow went down the street and threw big chunks of snow up on the side walk. Uncle Steve looked awfully tired when he came back inside from shoveling. He still took me out in the backyard to play. I could smell bunnies, so I had to start digging. They are down there somewhere! I hope they try to come out when I am in the back yard. I hear they taste a lot like chicken. (You know how much I like chicken!)
Your vacation could be really expensive for Uncle Steve. Aunt Kathy really wants to go to Hawaii, and the description of your adventures could push the two of them to finally take the trip. It sounds like you are having a lot of fun.
Have fun,

Relaxing Day at the Ranch!

Did I mention how much I like Aunt Kathy's and Uncle Steve's front window. I can see so much more through the big picture window, and as you can see they set up the pillows so I have a very comfortable place to sit. In fact, I was having a very nice nap when I heard Uncle Steve trying to sneak up on me and take a picture. I did not appreciate being roused from my nap. Uncle Steve explained that it was so you could see me while you are on vacation too. I let him live!

Uncle Steve and I have just been sitting around the house taking naps and watching Aunt Kathy work. Uncle Steve did go out and shovel snow. It has been snowing off and on since late Friday night. We probably have around 4 inches, but we are supposed to get more tonight and Sunday. We will let you know how much we finally get.

The dolphins and whales sound pretty cool, but I bet they are not as cool as I am. You should have seen me running in the snow in the back yard. I was so fast Uncle Steve could hardly see me.

Hope you enjoy your sight seeing trip. I take good care of Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve.

Be Careful What You Wish For!!!

I think I hear two Golden Retrievers! They had better be careful because I'm the one that needs some sleep tonight! I did have Uncle Steve take me outside at 3:00 am last night. He was awfully hard to wake up (I did not even try to wake up Aunt Kathy. Momma didn't raise no stupid dog here!). I found that if I gag a little bit Uncle Steve shoots out the bed like a rocket. He sounds all panicky, saying "Come on Speck! Let's get outside now!" Humans are so much fun to control.

Uncle Steve got home at 3:00 today and right away he asked me if I wanted to go for a walk. I got all excited. We got into the car and started driving somewhere. I saw Lake Calhoun and I got even more excited. Then we got out of the car and the wind damn neared blew my tail off! Uncle Steve seemed all hell bent on taking a walk so off we went. I just put my tail down for fear it would act as a sail and we would both end up in Canada. When we got to the south end of the lake it wasn't too bad after that, but the first 15 minutes was your typical Uncle Steve walk, SHEAR HELL! I will try to get Aunt Kathy to take me on walks the rest of my vacation.

It is supposed to snow here any minute now. Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve decided not to go out to eat before the concert on Saturday and play on Sunday, so will have more time to play with them. You two have fun. We will post pictures of me playing in the snow!

Why Did Everybody Leave Me?

I GIVE UP!!!

OK, not really. You all know me better than that. I was just trying to act cute to get a treat. Uncle Steve looked sort of silly holding the treat in one hand and the camera in the other, but I was getting food so what do I care!

Now, about being alone most of the day. Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve leave the house at an ungodly hour and do not get home until late in the afternoon. Then they went to some dinner tonight to celebrate the birthday of some guy named George Washington. Isn't he dead? Why are you celebrating a dead guy's birthday and what is a Mason? All I know is that I was alone a lot today and I am not happy. I may need a lot of attention in the middle of the night to make up for this. I hope Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve weren't planning on a lot a sleep tonight. I got mine during the day, so tonight is PLAYTIME!!!!

Hope you two are having a good time in Hawaii. I am expecting lots of treats on your return.

Love,

The Speckster!
