Sunny Day in Minnesota

Is That Treat for Me?
The snow has finally stopped falling and the sun came out yesterday and today. Some of the snow actually melted off the side walks. Uncle Steve was going to take me for a walk, but with with melting snow I would have needed a major belly bath. Neither one of us wanted to go through that, so we tortured some stuffed animals instead. They all survived, but the snow man has a hole in his hat!
Uncle Steve has shoveled a run for in the backyard that is lots of fun. When I was out there this afternoon the basset hounds came out at the same time. We had lots of fun barking at each other, but the snow is so deep neither one of us could get near the fence. I kept trying to jump out of my run, but I kept sliding back into it. Uncle Steve seemed to be getting quite the kick out of that.
Your trip sounds really neat. I hope you are taking lots of pictures to show me what I missed.

Quite Day at the Ranch!

Mom, I got to chase a mouse!!!!
Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve went to the home show today, so I had a nice quite day at home. It was nice and sunny out today, so I had lots of people to bark at. I'd take a nap, here something outside, bark up a storm, and then go back to sleep. Just a normal day!
But after dinner, Aunt Kathy saw a mouse in the living room. Uncle Steve had to go out and buy a whole bunch of mouse traps (pet safe, of course), and place them around the house so we would all be safe. While Uncle Steve was gone I protected Aunt Kathy. I was running all over the living room looking for those little buggers. When I go in the backyard now I can smell the bunnies under the deck. It is so much fun hunting bunnies, Uncle Steve has to remind me what we came outside for in the first place. I have Uncle Steve trained now to take me outside whenever he gets up in the middle of the night. However, he doesn't seem to share my sense of joy at hunting bunnies at 3:30 a.m. There are still a few days to break him in.
Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve want to know when you are coming home on Tuesday. I would like to be in our house to great you, unless that means that dinner would be later than 5:00 p.m. I love you dearly, but getting dinner at 5:00 p.m. is also very special. Sounds like every day is really special in Hawaii. Keep having fun our your trip, because coming back to all this snow is going to be a real shock to your system.

The Speckter

SNOW DAY!!!! (YIPPEE!!!)

We got so much snow both Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve are home today. Granted Uncle Steve spent most of the morning shoveling snow, but I helped Aunt Kathy read the newspaper. We went to the window and waved to him. Once he wasn't looking we were laughing and joking that we were so glad that he was out there and not us. I will give him some special lap time this afternoon, because I know we will be taking a nap before dinner.

As you can see by the pictures below, we got a lot of snow. We got about 8 inches on Thursday during the day, and another 8-12 inches over night. The bunnies are on there own, because I can't get out of the path Uncle Steve shoveled for me. In fact, we went for a walk through our own snow tunnel today, otherwise known as the front sidewalk.

I hear Basset Hounds!

Where Are They?

Damn This Snow! I Can't Get at Them!!!!
(OK, maybe I do know some of those words that Uncle Steve was using!)
Keep having fun in Hawaii. You may want to give serious consideration to staying there! Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve will take care of me.

SOMEBODY STOP THE SNOW!!!!

OK, This is about enough snow!!!
As I write this, the snow is falling at the rate of one inch per hour, and it has been snowing since about 10:00 a.m. Uncle Steve has been out twice to shovel. When he comes back inside, he does not look too happy. He described what he thought of the weather, but he used words with which I was not familiar. His school was dismissed at 12:30, but Aunt Kathy had to stay at school all day. She used some of the same words Uncle Steve used. It would be an understatement to say that there is an epidemic of cabin fever here! If you can't tell from the picture, I would be buried up to my ears if I tried to leave the path that Uncle Steve shoveled for me in the backyard. OK, I was buried up to my ears when I left the path, but I thought I saw a bunny!
Given the weather that we are having here, you really picked a good time to go on vacation. Beach, sand, water, these are all words that seem foriegn given what we have outside. Uncle Steve reminded me that this weather is why there were no ancient civilizations in Minnesota. They all had the brains to go south during the winter!
