Aunt Kathy Wears Me Out!!!

On the one hand, it is nice to have Aunt Kathy home all day to entertain me. After breakfast, we went for a walk around the neighborhood. It was a nice walk; it was not an Uncle Steve marathon!!! But once she gets cleaned up, she never stops working. I feel it is my duty to keep track of her to make sure she is OK, but you can only stay on your feet so long. She is either putting pictures in albums, or working on school stuff, or cleaning the house, or talking to people on the phone. I finally had to sit on the couch and guard the front yard before my paws wore off!

Did you get to the Varsity Drive In for a chilli dog, onion rings, a frosty orange, and fried peach pie? Uncle Steve started watering at the mouth when I showed him what I was typing. One time Aunt Kathy's mom came to visit them in Atlanta, and said she would take each of them to their favorite restaurant for their birthday dinners. Uncle Steve choose the Varsity. Aunt Kathy almost killed him, but she decided she didn't need to waste the effort. The grease in the food would get him anyway!!!

Uncle Steve got home late because he went for a 6 mile run tonight. He said it was a mistake. He thought the breeze would keep him cool, but when the temperature is 90 degrees it would take a gale force wind to keep him cool.

Uncle Steve took a picture of me so everyone can see how cute I am (and humble, too!):

He also took a movie of me hunting in the backyard. I am a good hunter too:

I am looking forward to you coming home tomorrow night. Entertaining old people is harder than you might think!

Old People Can Be Boring!!!

It was a quiet day here at Camp Speck. Uncle Steve finally got back from doing his exercises, and he was too tired to do much. The weather was really hot and sticky, so we didn't even go for a pedestrian expedition. (I am learning to read, so if I write "walk" I get all excited.) I also spent a fair amount of time guarding the front yard. Anybody that came by got a severe warning that they were being watched. I don't know that Aunt Kathy appreciated the good job that I was doing! Uncle Steve did a lot of reading this afternoon, so we logged some quality lap time. He had two fans on, plus the air conditioning so I didn't get too hot.

The only excitement today was dinner time. As you can see, Aunt Kathy makes quite the production out of it. She is very entertaining:

I Do What is Necessary to Get the Treat!!!

Today's video is not one of my stellar performances. I know that what ever I do, Uncle Steve will give me the treat. So I just keep doing tricks until he gives in, which usually is not too long. However, next time I will try to stay farther away from the wall!!!

It was a nice relaxing day here. Aunt Kathy was home all day. So I sat and watched her work most of the day. She does not sit down as much as Uncle Steve does! Uncle Steve got home in the middle of the afternoon, and we had some serious lap time. It is so much fun to look out the back window. I feel so much superior to the other canines that are on either side of the house. Looking down on them just seems the natural thing to do. It was too hot to go for a walk, so I just rotated from Uncle Steve's lap, to the bed, to the floor, back to Uncle Steve's lap to look out the window, etc. Life is good!!! Glad to hear you are having a good time.

I hope your meetings went well today. I cannot believe that you will be back tomorrow. Are you sure you don't need to spend an extra day in Atlanta?

Entertaining is Hard

Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve had company today, so I worked really hard to entertain them. Aunt Kathy's sister and husband were here. They said that I was really cute. However, they were here during my nap time. I was trying to stay awake, but it was really hard. Finally, the food came out, and I woke up right away. Uncle Steve wants to know what you two do in the kitchen that makes me such a good helper. Whenever anybody starts to cook, I am right there to clean up the floor. Aunt Kathy's sister noticed that when Aunt Kathy put flour in a bowl, I looked to see if the flour fell through the counter top and on to the floor. Uncle Steve said earlier in the day that he was cutting up a honeydew melon, and that I probably wouldn't want any, even if it fell on the floor. I thought I trained him better than that!!!

After the company left, Uncle Steve thought it would be cute if he threw the stuffed animals and I chased them so you could watch me in Atlanta. He forgot that I had not had my nap. So instead of chasing the animals I stood and barked at Aunt Kathy. She pleaded with me, but to no avail. I was tired and needed my rest. So what you see below is me not performing. Maybe I will be in a better mood tomorrow.

Uncle Steve & Aunt Kathy says have fun in Hotlanta. Try to get to Stone Mountain, and the Varsity Drive-In. They have been in Atlanta for ages. Also, Atlanta is the home of Krispy Kreme, so if you miss them you can still get them there. The original Krispy Kreme is on a street that is spelled "Pounce De Leon". It is not pronounced like the Spanish explorer. It is pronounced like the prize fighter Leon Spinks. This is not a joke. Native Atlantan's are offended when you try to say it the way any educated person would think it is pronounced. Forewarned is forearmed!
