Ever Have an Itch You Couldn't Reach?

Just when Uncle Steve got his camera out to take my picture, I got this itch that I could not reach. It wasn't very lady like, but it produced this rather interesting video:

OK, so I look sort of silly. You've been gone a long time, and we are running out of stuff to video!!!

Uncle Steve did get this sort of cute picture of me on my favorite couch. I spend most of the day here guarding the front yard. After Uncle Steve leaves in the morning, somebody drops off a paper at the front door. I let them know, in no uncertain terms, that Aunt Kathy does not want to be disturbed at that hour. She is trying to get in those last precious few minutes of sleep before she has to get up, and no one should be bothering her. She doesn't seem to appreciate my efforts. All I ever hear from her is to stop barking. Doesn't she understand that the barking is for her benefit?

Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steve are pretty jealous about all the great music that you are getting to hear. The food doesn't sound too bad either.

Ich dich liebe,

Das Speckster

Hi Speck,
Come to think of it, that might be why we don't get the paper anymore. It's free online you know, AK, and then you can sleep a little longer! We're in Prague now. We didn't get in until after dark, but it sure looks pretty!
Last night we went to the Imperial Orchestra. We didn't know what it was going to be (we just listened to the concierge's suggestion) but it turned out to be way more exciting than we thought it would be! It turns out that members of the Vienna Philharmonic get together to form a smaller chamber orchestra and perform in this old church in vienna. It's a smaller venue, so it's a lot more intimate. They had one guy who would tell a little bit about the next piece of music, then they'd play it. When they had opera pieces, they'd have two opera singers come out and sing, when it was a waltz (big deal in Vienna) they'd have two ballet dancers come out and dance. It was so beautiful to watch and hear that Mama had one of her "ovewhelmed with gratitue" moments and gushed all the way back to the hotel.

We went to dinner afterwards at a restaurant that specializes in Viennese cooking and beef (the concierge recommended that too). We have a NEW category of food to add to the list!

NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS! While there were several foods that fit this category on the menu, the ones that stand out are "Fried Calf's Head, and Veal Blood Sausage". Fortunately, we stuck with the less risky menu options and ordered the Beef tips with noodles, and the Wiener Schnitzel. Both were quite delicious!

Anyway, Papa is acting like a goon, so we need to get going. It's pretty late here, and we want to try to get a decent start tomorrow to see the castle.

Thank AK and US for taking such care of you, and we were rooting for you to get that itch! By the way, we get home fairly late Monday night (around 10:00) so ask them what time they usually go to bed.

Love, Mom and Dad
